"Self-perception can be distorted by ideals never consciously agreed to, especially when it comes to the body. The pressure to fit into a narrow definition of beauty, reinforced by fashion and media can lead to questioning worth for not meeting impossible standards. This work explores a feminine view of ways body image is constructed and how societal norms influence the way we see and value ourselves. I’m especially interested in the emotional weight of these expectations and how they create frustration and inaccurate self-perception. This show is both a personal expression of navigating these tensions and an invitation for others to reflect on the perceived truths they’ve inherited, and perhaps to begin reforming them."
