In this show, I explore both human and nature relationships both physical and psychological. I am interested in how we absorb elements of our environment into our bodies and how we leave behind traces of ourselves. Some works focus on finding surface parallels: intimate tracings of scars, stretch marks, and rashes resemble tree bark. Other works speak to the likenesses between psychological states and textures found in nature: swirling branch-like lines correlate with feelings of confusion or contemplation. As I connect to the natural world outside of my body, I better understand what it is to be in my body. - Telisa Owens
