"I sort found objects as a way of cataloging the character of a specific place. These items show up in the work in various manifestations. I make a physical space for the object to reside, ordered and grouped with its siblings in an invented plane. Roughly sewn tulle pockets, woven boxes, 2D adaptations imposed on bus upholstery, all act as display cases for these found items, giving a nod to their value outside of original function or location.

This is an examination of the correlation and sometimes incongruence between function, place, and object. It’s an ode to forgotten things and an attempt to formally sort through the curiosity of encountering discarded stuff. It questions the strong material contradictions in “natural” places that so blatantly break idealized narrative.

Casting a wide net, I put this question to work wherever life took me in the last 2 years of the program. The objects in this specific body of work come from Provo, Corrinne, Moab, Skagway, Guarapari, Tokyo, and my childhood jewelry box"
